Job Duties Norfolk State University (NSU), through exemplary

productive global citizens. NSU’s Department of Chemistry seeks
applicants for the position of Laboratory and Research Specialist
II – Chemistry. The position is critical for the management of all
chemistry laboratory related tasks and supports the management of
the department in other areas. Laboratory and Research Specialist
II responsibilities include: Managing budget, chemical inventory
and purchasing, chemical storage and general safety Setting up
laboratory experiments and generally supporting the teaching of
labs Overseeing chemical instrumentation maintenance and
interacting with technicians assisting the department chair with
diverse management activities Successful candidates will
extensively interact with chemistry faculty and staff in diverse

in chemistry degree from a regionally accredited institution of
higher education; M.S. in Chemistry preferred. Demonstrated
familiarity with chemistry laboratory management. Skilled in the
use of chemistry instrumentation and computer-based applications.
Demonstrated ability to communicate to diverse stakeholders and be
