Sentara is currently hiring an Ophthalmic Technician to work at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital located in Norfolk, Virigina,

Hours/Shift: This is a temporary position with tentative employment now through September 2024.

Hours will fall between Monday to Friday from 8am to 4:30pm. No weekends, no holidays!

FLEXI for a minimum of 16 hours per week with the option to work up to 32 hours per week.

Department/Position Overview:

Join our small work family in our Lions Sight Center, the only level one trauma center in the Hampton Roads area. We are partnered with Eastern Virginia Medical School to provide exceptional care to our patients.

The ophthalmic technician will assist ophthalmologists as they perform clinical eye care. The ophthalmic technician will administer eye medication, perform diagnostic eye exams, help educate patients on at-home eye care and perform clinical eye tests. The ophthalmic technician will help maintain the clinical needs in the department as necessary.

Responsible for the performance of procedures for the diagnostic and treatment of ophthalmic disease. With the Manager of the Eye Center for Sight, the Technician/Technologist will coordinate patient care to meet the expectations of the patients, and staff. Along with the completion of technical procedures, the Technician/Technologist will manage clinics as assigned. Responsible for providing assistance to the Eye Center staff and Ophthalmology residents.

Minimum Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited Ophthalmic Technician Program with 1 year of ophthalmic experience required. Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technician (COT).
