proactive Safety Supervisor I to join our team. This role is
pivotal in ensuring a safe working environment while driving
continuous process improvement and fostering strong leadership and
team-building values. The ideal candidate will have a strong
background in safety management, process improvement, and a
commitment to fostering a culture of safety and efficiency.Key
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of Safety Technicians by leading by example and
promoting a culture of safety and accountability across all levels
of the organization.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance
with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify
potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with team members,
encouraging open communication and collaboration.
- Facilitate team-building activities and initiatives to enhance
team cohesion and morale.
- Mentor and guide team members, providing support and resources
to help them succeed in their roles.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes
and recommend preventive measures.
- Initiate process improvement initiatives to enhance safety and
operational efficiency.
- Identify and address training needs to ensure all team members
are knowledgeable about safety protocols and best practices.
- Utilize data and analytical tools to identify areas for
improvement and implement solutions to reduce waste and increase
productivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes
and eliminate non-value-added activities.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and
training activities.
- Ensure all safety documentation is up-to-date and compliant
with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present safety reports to management, highlighting
key metrics and improvement initiatives.
- Perform the duties of the Safety Manager in his or her
absence.
- Other duties assigned.Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Typically requires a High School diploma and 6 years of
experience as a Shipyard Competent Person, Safety Inspector,
Supervisor, Manager, or an overall equivalent combination of
education and experience, preferably in a manufacturing or
industrial setting.
- OSHA 10-Hour Maritime #7615: Shipyard Employment.
- Knowledge/proficiency in OSHA and NAVSEA Standard Items
requirements.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a proven
ability to motivate and inspire teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to support role in a shipyard environment.Working
Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- During shipboard, facility and shop inspections, the Supervisor
will be exposed to hot and cold temperatures, wind, rain, and
snow.
- Frequently required to stand, sit, reach, bend, climb, walk,
and climb into and out of confined spaces and climb vertical and
inclining ladders and stairs.Preferred Education, Experience, &
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety
Professional (ASP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
- Lean Six Sigma Certification.OSHA certifications in:
- OSHA 521 Intro to Industrial Hygiene
- OSHA 3095 Electrical Standards
- OSHA 3115 Fall Protection
- OSHA 5410 Occupational Health and Safety Standards for the
Maritime IndustryPay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $58300 -
$99100Please note: This range is based on our market pay
structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a
variety of factors including, but not limited to: business
considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as
well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and
