Job Description The heavy equipment operator operates a variety of equipment and trucks for maintenance and repair activities.Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenanceMust know how to operate heavy equipmentMust be able to pass and maintain any authorizations provided by the company to operate equipmentMust have knowledge of load restrictions for heavy equipmentMust understand the company's material identification and movement procedureOperatingOperate heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner including wearing seat belts while equipment is in operation and obeying set speed limitsProperly secure loads of equipment, parts and supplies prior to transportation in order to minimize risk of damage to the materials.Maintenance/Trouble ShootingEnsures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and suppliesPerforms routine safety inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor;Inform supervisor of any discrepancies related to the operation of the heavy equipment that need to be addressed

• Must be able to carry or lift 50 pounds
• Must be able to walk to and from the dry-dock to the shop
• Able to enter and exit a standard horizontal and vertical manhole (15 inches x 23 inches)
• Able to work in confined spaced for prolonged periods of time
• Must be able to climb vertical or inclined ladders
• Must be able to stand, sit, push/pull and stoop
• Must be able to work in a kneeling position, crawling or work with body bent over at the waist
• Must be able to work with arms extended at shoulder level

Must have High school Diploma/GEDForklift licensePreferred Education, Experience, & Skills 5-7 years of work experience preferred.
