Job Description:

Duties * You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/NETWORK) in the CORPORATE OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT (CODE C1100) of the MID-ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER (MARMC) in NORFOLK, VA. * You will serve as a Network Engineer responsible for planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of information technology hardware, equipment, appliances, and system software. * You will administer, plan, design, develop, acquire, document, test, implement, integrate, maintain, and modify the network infrastructure and associated systems, equipment, and appliances to solve problems or accomplish work processes. * You will manage accounts, network rights, network resources, access to the network and associated equipment, systems, and appliances. * You will monitor the network environment utilization and functionality using software and hardware monitoring tools. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. * This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 441 proficiency level BASIC the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies. * Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing. * You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license. Qualifications Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: * Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. * Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. * Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. * Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. **AND** In addition to the four competencies above, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience applying expert knowledge in the configuration and administration of network devices to include routers, switches, firewalls, VPN devices, and IP-based communications services. * Experience applying expert knowledge in the administration of Windows Server Operating Systems and/or Windows Operating Systems including Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, DHCP and DNS, and the various roles, services, and features of Windows server products. * Experience applying expert knowledge in organizational network architectures and infrastructures, topologies, and protocols sufficient to develop and implement migration strategies including planning for continuity of operations during the deployment of new server technology. * Experience applying expert knowledge in network systems design, development, testing, installation, operations, management and maintenance concepts and methods sufficient to develop and present plans for integrating new server technology existing architecture. * Experience applying an in-depth knowledge of IT principles, methods and practices to perform assignments to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of automated systems, networks, and data/information. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. The incumbent is required to obtain the foundational qualification within 9 months and the residential qualification within 12 months of appointment and maintain qualifications as described in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies. Participation in a continuous professional development program, completing an annual 20-hour minimum of Cyber Workforce related continuous professional development must be documented and completed in a current individual development plan signed by both the employee and supervisor. Some work may require walking and standing in conjunction with travel and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site. Some employees may be required to carry desktop computers, monitors and laptops or drive a motor vehicle. Work requires minimal physical efforts and incumbent should be able to lift less than 25 lbs. or less. Some employees may occasionally be exposed to uncomfortable conditions in such places as research and production facilities.
