Overview:
Colonna's Shipyard is looking to obtain experienced candidates
within our Electrical Department. -This is a full-time position
with competitive pay, based on experience, and immediate work
within our headquarters in Norfolk, VA.
Responsibilities:
Lead a small crew (5-8) of department tradesmen assigned to the
project.Must demonstrate thorough knowledge and skill of electrical
type construction and apply hands-on supervision with effective
leadership.High school and/or trade school diploma preferred.Must
have a valid, non-restrictive driver s license.Must be a good
communicator, motivator, and team player.Must understand all tools
of the electrical trade.Maintain knowledge of correct use of trade
specific tools for electrical installations and correct use of
electrical testing equipment.Should display expertise in conduit
and cable tray installation.Maintain a working knowledge of motor
controls and SCADA systems and working knowledge of the
NEC.Maintain a general understanding of other foreman specialties
such as labor, mechanical, concrete and civil as related to the
electrical discipline.Ability to read plans, safety manuals and
blueprints.Train lower level -Electrical mechanics and semi-skilled
employees to bring them up to speed with demands of specific
electrical projects.Maintain the vessel, shops, and surrounding
areas in a clean and safe condition with coordination of safety and
Electrical Shop Foreman.Become familiar with all work-related
documents such as drawings, manuals and question requirements that
are not clear or appear to be in conflictIdentify improvements that
can be made in yard work processWill be required to wear personal
protective equipment-hardhat, safety glasses, steel toe boots/shoes
and, when necessary respiratorWork independently to complete
responsibilitiesMust have regular, reliable attendanceOther duties
may be assigned as work load requirements dictate.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalentMinimum of (8) years Marine
Electrician experience within the trade to be supervised or
relatable Electrical experience in a similar Industrial or
Commercial Setting.Must not have bulk of Electrical experience
centered in the residential field.Previous supervisory
responsibilities required, in the from of identifying quality
talent and developing growth in talent new to the Electrical
TradeMust have "LOCK OUT TAG OUT" Experience and have experience
creating plans for lock our tag out on a project specific
basis.Technical training preferred on a state or board certified
level, but not required.Expert knowledge of and ability to use hand
tools and instruments associated with the tradeMust be able to work
effectively with othersMust be a steady, reliable workerMust be
able to comprehend and follow complex instructionsMust be
self-motivated and able to complete responsibilities with minimal
direction
