Technician, Process (10170) The Company Headquartered in Plano, Texas, asTech is a leading provider of diagnostic solutions and services to the collision repair industry. asTech, which stands for a utomotive s ervice Tech nicians, is the first company of its kind to specialize in servicing vehicle electronics. The Company provides remote and in-shop automotive electronic services using its patented asTech device, performed by ASE-Certified Technicians. Primary Purpose of the Position The In-Shop Process Technician position is based inside our client's automotive repair facility. After training and certification, the technician will be responsible for performing precise calibration for all types of ADAS equipment across most vehicle makes and models, Other duties include diagnosing and repairing those vehicles with calibration fault codes which prevent calibration.Attention to detail, documentation and quality of work are of the utmost importance when dealing with safety equipment. The technician will be responsible for procuring OEM repair procedures from company resources and use the information to accurately perform calibrations. A working knowledge of vehicle electronic systems and diagnostic tools is a necessity in this role.The technician will also consult with the shop(s) and assist in completing diagnostics scans to diagnose and recommend repairs for vehicles involved in collisions using the asTech device. Our Technicians effectively use OEM (original equipment manufacturer) scan tools, ALLDATA and web resources for automotive diagnostics and repair information to increase diagnostic scan volumes at their respective shops. Essential Functions Utilize various OEM tools and diagnostic equipment to make the most effective recommendations for repairs on multiple makes and models Act as a subject matter expert and adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals on a consistent basis Ability to quickly learn how to evaluate information and data to provide comprehensive interpretation of technical information, electrical components and ADAS systems Proficient in identification of faults, error messages, module corrections, etc. Perform basic R/I procedures to access sensors and control modules Read and understand measurements in both standard and metric units Responsible for driving customer or company vehicles for the purpose of delivery, testing or calibration. Perform pre and post vehicle calibration documentation, prepare report paperwork for customers Read/Interpret calibration procedures from OEM information Capture clear and accurate photographs of calibration processes as required Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in e-learning or other training sessions in an effort to stay well- informed with rapidly changing automotive technology Utilize understanding of the structure and practices of various types of repair facilities, body shops, insurance carriers to facilitate effective working relationships Keep team management aware of mechanical and electrical repair problems as they occur Maintain calibration area environment to keep a safe and organized work space Handle company owned tools and equipment in a responsible manner Adhere to all company and shop policy, procedure, safety and environmental rules Ensure compliance utilizing basic knowledge of applicable local, state and ferdal laws Minimum Qualifications: Two to three years of car dealership experience OR experience in an aftermarket repair facility as an Automotive Technician OEM scan tool and/or after market scan tool experience and knowledge Proficient in identification of faults, error messages and modules Strong automotive mechanical and electrical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience Must have company designated certifications or obtain within 6 months: ASE, I-Car, MECP Current, valid driver's license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) Basic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications: Self-motivated, high energy and a customer-focused perspective In depth understanding of automotive industry and various manufacturer acronyms and lingo Proficient in customer reporting Ability to work independently and in a team environment Reports to: Supervisor, In Shop Location: Various locations throughout the United States Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment: This job operates in various automotive repair shop environments that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance. Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently; majority of lifting from knee to shoulder heights; other lifting required from various levels. Must be able to carry and transport up to 60 pounds up to 20 feet. Requires standing stooping and kneeling for extended periods of time. Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity. Travel: Some travel within the assigned geographic area is expected.
