Tracking Code TSVRON-20-1878-W Job Code 20-1878 Posting Title Second Assistant Engineer Post Date 12/30/2020 Full Time / Part-Time Full Time Travel No Travel Required City Norfolk State VA Country US Description Second Assistant Engineer (TSVRON-20-1878-W):Bowhead seeks a Second Assistant Engineer who will support the Carrier Strike Group Four, Training Support which is responsible for coordinating, establishing, and implementing integrated requirements and policies for manning, equipping, and training fleet units, strike groups (SG), and strike forces (SF). These requirements and elements are paramount in the execution of the Fleet Response Plan (FRP), in support of and as required by U.S. Navy policy and combatant commanders.The Second Assistant Engineer to operate a range training support vessels in direct support of the Navy off the Atlantic coast. They shall have extensive experience, knowledge, and confident skills as a vessel operator and deckhand and be able to operate in close proximity to other craft and waterborne targets and structures.Essential Functions include but are not limited to: Serve as a member of the Engineering department. Perform repairs and maintenance on propulsion and auxiliary equipment as directed by the chief engineer. Stand engine room watch (duty engineer) as assigned per operational requirements. Requirements High School Diploma Required. Military experience Preferred. One plus (1+) years experience operating and maintaining water craft STCW Requirements: Chief Engineer/Second Engineer Officer of 3,000 kW (4,000 HP) or More. Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a teamPhysical Demands: The work environment varies and includes, but is not limited to: dock, port, bay, waterways, coastal and open ocean environments, office space, equipment rooms, warehouse space, construction zones, and outdoor environments in all weather conditions. Work hours may fluctuate outside of normal duty hours. CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required.
