Job Description Old Dominion University (ODU) invites nominations and applications for Clinical Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy within the School of Rehabilitation Sciences in the College of Health Sciences, appointment effective July 25, 2021. The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program is situated in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences, College of Health Sciences at Old Dominion University (ODU) and graduates approximately 40 students per year. The program employs 8 full-time core faculty and is additionally supported by faculty from within the School of Rehabilitation Sciences. Physical Therapy faculty also contribute to advising, instruction, and research in the Schools PhD program in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation and in the Colleges PhD Program in Health Sciences Research. We are committed to maintaining a diverse and stable faculty.The responsibilities of this position include teaching and scholarship responsibilities in content areas that match the applicants scholarly interests, areas of contemporary practice expertise, as well as Program and School mission, goals and curricular needs. Additional responsibilities include advising and mentoring students, engaging in Program, School, College and University service, and professional development.The position is a 10-month, full-time faculty position at the level of Clinical Assistant Professor. Clinical faculty at Old Dominion University are subject to all University, college and department policies and procedures governing graduate teaching, program implementation, and oversight of graduate research and must undergo the same formal academic review and graduate certification review as required of tenured and tenure-track faculty members. Type of Recruitment General Public Type of Recruitment General Public Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities 1) At least three years of clinical practice experience as a physical therapist.2) Evidence of contemporary practice skills and knowledge.3) Demonstrated excellence in teaching in a DPT entry level program. Minimum Qualifications - Education or training 1) Graduate of an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) CAPTE accredited physical therapy program.2) DPT degree or academic doctorate required. Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification Licensed or eligible for PT licensure with the intent to become licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Preferred Qualifications 1) Evidence of a scholarly agenda.2) ABPTS Specialist Certification.3) History of community service and/or involvement in professional association.4) Active APTA membership.
