Faculty in the Department of Counseling and Human Services (CHS) at Old Dominion University (ODU) seek a competent and highly qualified Clinical Assistant Professor to provide comprehensive leadership in our new CHS Training Clinic. The CHS Department at ODU hosts an average of 200 counseling students and 700 human services students. The CHS Training Clinic will provide free counseling services face to face and in telemental health modalities to ODU students in collaboration with the ODU Counseling Center and be located on the ODU campus in Norfolk, VA. The clinic director will provide clinical and administrative oversight of all clinic functions, including supervising trainees and personnel assigned to the clinic such as practicum students in counseling, undergraduate human services interns, and graduate assistants. The clinic director will facilitate referral of students from the ODU Counseling Center to the clinic, make clinical assignments for all counseling students, teach graduate practicum and internship courses at the master's and doctoral levels, and provide mentorship for the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students working in the clinic. Other administrative functions include advising the CHS department chair on the clinic budget, evaluating personnel assigned to the clinic, and liaising with the other health clinics on campus to promote interprofessional collaboration between allied healthcare disciplines. The clinic director is responsible for ethical, legal, and administrative policy compliance, including providing oversight of records in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA expectations. Candidates must hold a doctorate in counselor education or a closely related field by the position start date; doctoral degrees from a CACREP-accredited program are preferred. Candidates also must be licensed or license-eligible for independent clinical mental health practice in the state of Virginia as an LPC, licensed psychologist, or LMFT within 5 months of start date. Candidates with at least 3 years of clinical experience and 1 year of clinical supervisory experience are preferred. Previous experience administering counseling training clinics or other administrative roles in mental health are also preferred. The CHS Training Clinic Director is a 12-month appointment and will report to the CHS department chair.
