Job Description:

Information Technology Services (ITS) at Old Dominion University is seeking a full-time employee to provide support to the University's client server environment through research, testing and evaluating computer security products and procedures to provide the campus with a reliable and secure computing environment. This position holds responsibility for defining, coordinating and monitoring the Information Security environment and investigating suspected violations of Information Security policies. It oversees the daily operations of security systems and procedures by the Security Operations Team. This position relates to the department objective by providing the information security needed to support the high quality and reliability of the services offered by ITS.
Required qualifications include:
· Extensive knowledge of several software packages and languages are necessary.
· Extensive knowledge of security, database, communications, and operating system software are necessary.
· Extensive knowledge of the security environments, University organization, and functional roles are necessary.
· Demonstrated knowledge of middleware and scripting development process and practices.
· In most cases these knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
· Demonstrated knowledge of effective supervisory techniques.
· Demonstrated skill in Computer Security forensics and investigations.
· Demonstrated Systems Admin skill of multiple operating systems, to include Windows and LINUX.
· Demonstrated skill in working with Intrusion Detection Systems and/or security monitoring systems.
· Demonstrated skill in working with directory systems, such as LDAP, Active Directory, NDS, etc.
· Demonstrated skill in network setup and management.
· Very strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
Preferred qualifications include:
· Extensive experience establishing and maintaining a secured computing and client/server environment.
· GIAC and/or CISSP Certification. Demonstrated skill in risk analysis and continuity planning.
· Understanding of scripting and automation, data mining, reporting, metrics and alerts.
· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
