The Linux Help Desk Engineer will assist with day-to-day activities such as operating system and product administration, deployments, monitoring, patching, user management, and general software security implementation and adherence. This is a mid-level role and requires availability outside of standard office hours, due to the possibility of after hour incidents or scheduled maintenance windows on occasional nights and weekends.

Primary Responsibilities
Assist with day-to-day Operations support, which may include: cluster provisioning, on-prem and cloud environment deployments, application integrations and performance issues, employee offboarding and onboarding, employee workstation troubleshooting, application account access requests, corporate technology needs, etc.
Assist with the design, engineering, and deployment of new applications (COTS and Custom) for the entire organization or individual teams from an infrastructure perspective
Assist the Operations team with general maintenance (patching / upgrading / installing) during scheduled and ad-hoc windows, ensuring as close to zero-downtime as possible and minimal impact to customers
Troubleshoots infrastructure and application alerts within defined SLAs
Maintains and updates Ansible / Terraform Infrastructure as Code for deployment of applications, operating systems, cloud objects, etc. using automation
Ensures accuracy of backup solutions and assists with regular tabletop and dry run exercises
Installation and configuration of hardware at data centers and office locations as needed
Elaborate documentation of systems configuration and security requirements using predefined standards and formatting

Required Qualifications Active U.S. Security Clearance or ability to renew
Security+ or equivalent certification
Minimum of 2 years of Operations experience
Minimum of 2 years of Linux system administration experience
Minimum of 4 years of data center and cloud networking experience
Minimum of 1 years of git experience
Minimum 1 years scripting experience (ansible, chef/ puppet or equivalent)
Minimum of 1 years using vSphere / vCenter
Minimum of 1 year of Windows system administration experience
Experience installing data center computing hardware
Familiarity with cloud and SaaS applications to include:
Google Workspaces
Attention to detail and grammar when crafting and reviewing documentation
Flexibility to address incidents as needed 24 hours a day
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent relevant hands-on experience
Ability to work well with others, especially remotely, in a fast-paced ever-changing environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to solve problems independently with limited information and oversight
Occasional ability to travel

Desired Qualifications
Fortinet hardware experience a plus
CISSP or equivalent
Python and Golang experience
Building RPMs or Debian packages and handling dependency management
CI applications strongly desired
Located in Charleston, SC or surrounding area
