JOB DESCRIPTION: -Wyndham Garden Norfolk Downtown is looking for an energetic and passionate individual with an interest in developing his/her career as an Assistant Chief Engineer -to join our Leadership Team. The ACE is a hands-on position and will be responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer with -the overall maintenance of the property as well as the supervision of maintenance staff. -The ACE must have proven knowledge and experience in maintaining the entire hotel facility, including physical hotel structure, all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems and related equipment, in accordance with conservation and preventive maintenance programs. - -Responsibilities include but are not limited to assist in managing the following:

  • Making sure that guest room requests are followed up and proper records are kept
  • Ensure all phone equipment and internet is in working order
  • Maintain MSDS -and Lock Out/Tag Out procedures/
  • Maintain inventory and PAR levels
  • Maintain Safety and Emergency Preparedness Procedure
  • Ensure the upkeep of the guest areas to maintain an attractive hotel
  • Meets with vendors and suppliers to discuss scope of, and products and materials used in, repair activities.
  • Perform skilled repair and maintenance operations using power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, etc.
  • Supervises and assists engineering staff in maintaining and repairing fire and life safety systems, room equipment, HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems, boiler systems,
  • kitchen appliances, refrigeration equipment, pool and pool equipment, lighting, laundry equipment and other systems/equipment as directed. -Note: Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management -Abilities:
    • Frequent lifting, pushing and carrying weights up to 50 -lbs. and greater for all hotel equipment and machinery
    • Mobility throughout the hotel, all floors, varying heights and distances. Use of ladders and lifts required at times
    • Continuous standing required in varying degrees throughout the day
    • Frequent bending and/or kneeling throughout the day for repairs maintenance of the hotel property, equipment and machinery - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Requirements: -
      • COVID-19 vaccination required
      • Extensive knowledge of all phases of maintenance is required
      • Driving - limited driving on an occasional basis for supplies, equipment etc. Generally within 20 miles
      • A positive, winning attitude a must - - -Education/Experience:
        • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
        • Two years of college or vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering or plumbing plus six years work experience in facilities maintenance, plant operations or engineering services for a hotel or hotels. -
        • Needs experience in technical crafts (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler systems etc.). Specialization in these trades are required. An ability to advance knowledge in these areas is essential.
        • Minimum of 2 -years of experience as -an engineer supervisor in a hotel environment - -Certification and/or License Requirement: - Professional certification and licensure if required by law. - Minimum Type III EPA Certification for refrigerant reclamation and charging preferred.*Special consideration will be given to ACE applicants who exhibit a proven track record of exemplary performance, strong leadership abilities, excellent oral and written communication skills, and guest and employee centric management practices. -NOTE:This description excludes non-essential and marginal functions of the position that are incidental to the performance of the fundamental job duties.
