As an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), the employee will be responsible for responding to assigned medical transports to select hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, dialysis centers, and medical facilities/offices for Heart Song Care Transport patients. The EMT will provide emergency medical care at the scene, en route to the facility, and during transportation if needed. The EMT will provide appropriate medical care within the scope of practice under the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS). The EMT will deliver the patient to and from the assigned destination by the Dispatcher on time, as well as radio in times, location, and mileage for accuracy. The EMT will adhere to Company, local, regional, and state guidelines regarding patient care, confidentiality, and respect. The EMT will perform basic life support procedures, based upon certification level. The EMT will perform other duties related to emergency and non-emergency medical care and accurate documentation, as well as other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Currently registered as an EMT by the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Health Office of Emergency of Medical Services (OEMS) Current certification in Basic Life Support CPR by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. High degree of personal integrity and responsibility Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, using good judgement and common sense with a thorough understanding of the principals of emergency medical care. Ability to work efficiently and interact in a constructive and professional manner with other employees, a partner, medical staff, and other emergency medical service members. Ability to interact effectively and professionally with patients, customers, clients, family members, bystanders, and the general public in such a manner as to reflect credibility on Heart Song Care Transport Demonstrate a level of skill and ability consistent with the provision of high quality patient care. The ability to perform effectively as a team player in patient care situations The ability to take constructive guidance and complete documentation in a timely, accurate manner. Physical Requirements: The ability to lift and maneuver 150 pounds with assistance and without difficulty The ability to walk up and down stairs without difficulty, as well as the ability to lift and carry 150 pounds up and down two (2) flights of stairs with assistance and without difficulty The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time The ability to walk a distance of mile without difficulty and without affecting the immediate performance of job-related duties
