This position is a 100% TDY position to Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, South Africa. The selectee for this position will serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the Operations Department, OTH Remote Construction Branch of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND ATLANTIC. The purpose of this position is to provide direct support to Public Works Officer (PWO). The incumbent is responsible for assisting the PWO in planning, directing, and administration of all facets of the Occupational Safety and Health Program. This is a full-time temporary not to exceed 1 year. This position may be filled as a Temporary Promotion or Temporary Reassignment. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities The successful selectee will perform the following duties:* applying safety and occupational health regulations principles or practices to resolve technical issues* implementing safety programs to reduce the frequency of accidents or occupational illness* inspecting environmental conditions to identify hazards, detecting risks and determining causal relationships Travel Required 76% or greater - This position will require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and requires additional education, training and experience. This position has been identified as a Career Field Facilities Engineering at Level III. Work requires frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, working in cramped positions, and climbing. Work requires lifting and moving heavy items. Work requires exposure to high noise levels. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. These agents may include, but are not limited to: fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals. Efforts to ensure worker safety include engineering controls, training, work procedures, and medical surveillance programs. Medical surveillance includes medical examinations of workers. Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license. Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1)Utilizing knowledge of Safety and Occupational health principles, practices, standards, and abatement measures to manage an Occupational Health program; 2)utilizing knowledge of practical engineering methods and techniques, energy trace and barrier analysis to evaluate and resolve occupational Safety and Health programs; 3)analyzing safety design features and specification to identifying and control hazardous construction processes and equipment usage; 4)developing command policy on wide range of safety and occupational health activities inherent to Occupational Safety and Health program..
