Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Richmond, VA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,002 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Able to read cardiac monitor Able to give narcotics Description: This position is for a Cardiac Stepdown Unit. The unit has 18 beds and a total staff of 38. There are typically 5 RNs and 1 Patient Care Technician on the night shift. Patient ratios are 4:1. Typical equipment includes central lines, PCA pumps, Foley catheters, chest tubes, pacer wires, telemetry, and drains. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. Candidates with stepdown experience and cardiac knowledge are preferred. Typical procedures performed include CABG, valve replacement, TAVR, Mitral clip placements, thoracotomies, atrial fibrillation management, congestive heart failure treatment, and myocardial infarction care. Common cardiac drips used in the unit are Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, and nitroglycerin. The ideal candidate will be a team player with critical thinking skills, kindness, and compassion. Unit guidelines include vital signs and assessments every 4 hours, and rhythm interpretation every 4 hours. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.
