Registered Nurse (RN) | Pediatric ER Location: Norfolk, VA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,668 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 1/26/2026 About the Position Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatric Emergency Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years in Pediatric Emergency License: Active state or compact nursing license Certifications: PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification BLS - Basic Life Support Certification (Healthcare Provider/Professional Rescuer) CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Must-Have: Triage experience TNCC, ACLS Description: The role requires providing care to pediatric patients in an emergency department setting. Common diagnoses include asthma, diabetic ketoacidosis, and fever in neonates. Experience with sickle cell disease is highly beneficial. The nurse will engage in moderate sedation for certain procedures. Additional responsibilities include administering breathing treatments and managing chest tubes. Familiarity with CPAP/BiPap and home vents, as well as high-frequency vents, is required. The position may involve rapid sequence intubation and care for tracheostomy patients. Nurses will be responsible for blood and blood product administration. Skills in cardioversion and defibrillation are expected. The appropriate use of warming or cooling blankets is a must. Knowledge of central venous pressure monitoring and interpreting 12 lead EKGs is essential. Participation in rapid transfusions is part of the role. The unit has a nurse to patient ratio of 1:4 and includes ancillary staff support. The job requires handling various access lines and providing care for cardiac, medical, neuro, surgical, and trauma patients. Experience in medical-surgical areas such as general, hematology/oncology, and orthopedic care is favorable.
