City/State Norfolk, VA Work Shift First (Days) Overview: Sentara
is hiring a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator for our Medical
Specialties Department at Norfolk General Hospital, in Norfolk
Virginia. Shift: Day Shift Unit Overview We are the first in the
Sentara System and Second in the State of Virginia to win the PRISM
Award (Premiere Recognition in the Specialty of Med-Surg). Our unit
is recognized for our collective achievements and contributions to
the safe, high-quality care we deliver to our patients on a daily
basis. Combined Our Team Members Have 20 Years Certified as Medical
Surgical Nurses. We are a 42-bed Medical Specialties Unit. Our
diverse patient population includes but is not limited toCHF,
Sickle Cell, Renal Failure, Vascular, Sepsis, COPD, Pneumonia,
Osteomyelitis w/ Surgical Interventions, Wound Care and, an
assortment of varying disease processes. We one main Nursing
Station and 7 Substations. Within those Substations you can
visualize your patient assignment and govern your own work area.
Equipment utilized on unit has EPIC integration, thus decreasing
your time inputting data. We live out our “no staff left behind”
motto and teamwork model by staying in contact with each other
through the use of walkie talkies, including the management team.

deliver stellar care! Overview Demonstrates proficiency in nursing
practice for assigned specialty area and provides clinical
leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under
the direction of the department manager leads safety and quality
initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to
the development of staff. Increase staff satisfaction and promotes
excellent (Gold Standard) customer service. 18 months nursing
experience required. BSN required; Master degree preferred, if the
graduate degree is not in nursing then the BSN is required. Meets
any requirements defined by specific specialty. BLS required within
90 days of hire. Professional Specialty Nursing Certification
preferred. Education - BNS Degree REQUIRED Certification/Licensure
- Virginia RN License REQUIRED - Basic Life Support (BLS)
Certification required within 90-days of hire Experience -
