Registered Nurse (RN) | Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Location: Norfolk, VA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,956 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 1/19/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: PICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: NOC Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of PICU and CVPICU experience License: Active nursing license Certifications: BLS, PALS, VA or compact license required Must-Have: Experience with generalized respiratory and neuro surgical patients. Strong cardiac care background. Experience in caring for post-neurosurgery patients, asthmatics, trauma patients, and those with Status Epilepticus, Cleft Lip/Palate, and craniofacial issues. Proficiency in medication administration, including versed and narcotic analgesia. Ability to care for congenital heart patients typically ranging from birth to early adulthood. Experience with CRRT and caring for diabetic patients. Mentorship skills to support new nursing staff. Strong skill set needed across all care areas due to diverse patient diagnoses and high acuity. Description: The role requires a Registered Nurse to provide care in a high-acuity pediatric intensive care environment. The candidate will work with a diverse population of patients across various diagnoses. Responsibilities include managing complex respiratory, neuro, and cardiac conditions. The RN will utilize skills in specialized procedures, including ECMO, CRRT, and procedural sedation. The nurse will maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3. This position involves rotating shifts, including every other weekend and holidays. Strong communication and teamwork skills are vital for effective collaboration with ancillary staff. Candidates must be proficient in airway and respiratory management, including high-frequency ventilation and tracheostomy care. The RN will also manage various cardiac and circulatory needs, including blood product administration and cardiac monitoring. Titration of medications such as epinephrine, dopamine, and vasoactive agents will be required. Overall, this role demands a compassionate nurse who can deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.
