Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Pediatric Stepdown Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Any 12-Hour Shifts Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: 2 years License: RN (Compact Accepted) Certifications: BLS; PALS Must-Have: Strong IV experience, tele-interpretation, previous travel experience Job Description: - Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric stepdown patients in a progressive care unit. - Care for chronic complex patients, including those with renal, post-op spinal, and medical-surgical conditions, utilizing telemetry. - Manage patients with asthma, bronchiolitis, pneumonia, failure to thrive, and chronic complex conditions such as cerebral palsy. - Handle GI patients with short-gut or Crohn's disease and medical patients with mental health concerns. - Conduct post-surgical care for tonsil/aden, appendectomy, and GT placement/takedown. - Perform telemetry, strict I/O monitoring, and various procedures including catheter care and wound management. - Use medical equipment such as chest tubes, CPAP/BiPap, PCA pumps, and feeding tubes. - Float to other general care and med-surg areas as required, including neuroscience, HemOnc, inpatient rehab, overflow, and medical-psychiatric units. - Participate in a 1-week orientation upon arrival, including EMR class scheduling and fulfilling all pre-start orientation requirements.
