Job DescriptionSentara Norfolk General Hospital, a level one
trauma center, is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Surgical
Trauma Intensive Care Unit.Up to $15,000 Sign-On Bonus for

details.Hours/Shift: Full Time (36 hours) Day
ShiftDepartment/Position Overview:
- 16 bed unit
- Norfolk General Hospital is the only Sentara Facility that
performs Kidney/Pancreas Transplants and complex vascular
surgeries.
- Immediate surgical recovery of Kidney and Pancreas
Transplant.
- General Surgical Patients requiring ICU.Management of patients
requiring mechanical ventilation.
- Management of patients requiring CRRT and
hemo-dialysis.Vascular: lower extremity revascularization,
Abdominal Aortic Aneurism, Mesenteric Artery Repair, EVAR, TEVAR,
Lower extremity bypass, revascularization, Carotid Endarectomy and
Carotid Stent, EKOS- treatment for DVTs, Medical management of
AAA's and dissections.General
- Patient Population Served: Adult medical and surgical patients
requiring intensive nursing care.
- Average length of stay 2-3 days, complex patients may be there

Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing
care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the
nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis,
outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of
care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the
standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent
practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education,
evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation,
resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the
actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses
clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by
specific clinical areas.
BSN or MSN preferred. Meets and maintains any requirements defined
by specific specialty; Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of
hire; Emergency Care - ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire;
Oncology Care ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy &
Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire. Women's Care -
Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire. Inpatient
Pediatrics. PALS within 6 months of hire. All Direct Care RN's
required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart
Association (AHA) RQI
- Registered Nurse (RN) Single State - Nursing License - North
Carolina
- Registered Nurse (RN) Single State - Nursing License - Virginia
Department of Health Professionals (VADHP)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Certification -
American Heart Association (AHA) RQI
- Registered Nurse (RN) Multi State - Nursing License - Virginia
Department of Health Professionals (VADHP)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Certification -
American Heart Association (AHA) RQI
- RN-Bachelor's Level Degree
- RN-Diploma (Non-degree)
