Surgery-General opening in Norfolk, Virginia. Transplant Specialist Opportunity - Norfolk, VA (A Short Drive to Atlantic Coast Beaches) Supports H1 Visa Candidates

Sentara Transplant Specialists, part of Sentara Medical Group in coastal Norfolk, Virginia, is seeking a full-time transplant surgeon with expertise in kidney and pancreas transplantation. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in general surgery and have successfully completed an ASTS accredited transplant surgery fellowship. Expertise in pediatric pancreas and kidney transplantation is preferred as our division also provides services at the Children s Hospital of the King s Daughters.

As a comprehensive transplant program in the state of Virginia, the STS team performs an average of 100 kidney transplants in adults plus kidney/pancreas and pancreas after kidney transplants. In addition, STS performs all kidney transplants at our affiliated pediatric program at CHKD. Our surgeons also perform liver, kidney and pancreas organ recoveries. A state-of-the-art robot is available for performing both robot kidney transplants and donor nephrectomies. The Division is involved with numerous clinical research studies resulting in national as well as international presentations.

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is a 525-bed academic teaching institution and part of Sentara Healthcare, an IBM Watson Health Top 15 Health System Sentara Medical Group has an academic affiliation with Eastern Virginia Medical School. Community Faculty Appointment in the Department of Surgery in EVMS is available.

Program offers:

• Kidney and pancreas transplants in Adults and Children

• Good team; established practice; Strong support Candidates:
  • Three years of transplant experience preferred; new fellows considered
  • Robotics training encouraged
  • Experience in Pancreas Transplant a plus
  • BC/BE General Surgery
  • Completion of ASTS certified Fellowship Position includes:
    • Organ transplantation (Kidneys, Pancreas peds/adults)
    • Liver, Kidney and Pancreas organ recoveries
    • Daily management of patients
