Academic Adult Psychiatrist in Virginia
StartDate: ASAP Pay Rate: $210000.00 - 250000.00

Merritt Hawkins, the nation's premier academic search firm, has partnered with a well-established academic institution in Virginia in the recruitment of faculty for its Psychiatry Department. We are seeking one adult and one geriatric psychiatrist who are board certified or eligible in Psychiatry and have a desire to become clinical educators. Applicants at all faculty ranks will be considered. The department provides a broad range of inpatient and ambulatory clinical services as well as resident and medical student education and research.

Position features:

• Option to spend up to 40% of your time on scholarly activities such as teaching or research
• Psychiatrists who have completed a geriatric psychiatry fellowship or have equivalent experience will be able to practice at the 12-bed inpatient geropsychiatric unit on campus
• Inpatient consultations are provided at the on-campus, Level I Trauma, acute care center
• In the ambulatory clinic, division members will gain experience in treating patients with psychodynamically - oriented psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy, and supportive psychotherapy
• Join a supportive, tightly knit faculty while preserving your autonomy to expand your individual strengths and skills as a psychiatrist
• Research is optional but if there is interest, opportunity to participate in clinical research is available
