Position DescriptionREPORTS TO: Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Programs (ADUG)DEPARTMENT: School of Nursing CAMPUS LOCATION: Hampton Roads AreaThe ABSN Program Director will provide strategic direction, vision and leadership for the ABSN program within the School of Nursing. This individual is responsible for program academic and administrative leadership, program management, and program development in consultation with the ADUP and the Dean of the School of Nursing. The ABSN Program Director will provide oversight for faculty and students, curriculum development, program delivery, and program assessment. He/she will assure effective deployment of resources to accomplish the goals and objectives of the programs. QualificationsMinimum of five years of undergraduate-level teaching experience required. A master's in nursing is required; a doctorate in nursing or a related field is preferred. -- Masters in nursing required; doctorate in nursing or a related field preferred-- Eligibility for Virginia licensure required -- Minimum of five years of undergraduate-level teaching experience required -- Academic leadership, program development and online education experience strongly preferred -- Ability to effectively lead multi-disciplinary teams-- Be forward thinking and committed to educational excellence in the preparation of people for a second profession in nursing practice -- Strong oral and written communication skills-- Above-average skills related to organization, attention to detail and effective time-management-- Fluent in English-- Excellent computer skills, including database management Primary Responsibilities-- Provide administrative academic leadership and oversight for ABSN degree program-- Serve as a member of the SON leadership team, and collaborate closely with the ADUP and the Dean related to program administration-- Partner and network with university, healthcare and community leadership to advance the reputation of the program-- Identify issues, trends, barriers and opportunities for growth of the ABSN Program-- Prepare reports for state and federal agencies as necessary-- Recruit and hire qualified faculty and staff who align with the mission, vision and goals of the AUSON and Averett University-- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public-- Provide oversight for the orientation/mentoring of new ABSN faculty-- Submit annual budget and faculty recommendations to the ADUP-- Carry out program functions and participate in professional meetings and events in the absence of the ADUP-- Conduct monthly ABSN meetings-- Travel as necessary for the smooth running of the ABSN program-- Plan ABSN teaching/classroom schedules and ABSN faculty loading for each academic year-- Provide general oversight for ABSN clinical experiences and schedules, in collaboration with the ABSN Clinical Coordinator-- Provide general oversight for ABSN simulation experiences and schedules, in collaboration with the ABSN Simulation Coordinator-- Responsible for direct oversight and evaluation of the following persons:o ABSN Simulation Coordinatoro ABSN Facultyo ABSN Clinical Lab Coordinatoro Program Director, Nursing Academic Services-- Counsel ABSN faculty regarding their professional development and assist in the development of promotional plans-- Work with the ADUP regarding annual faculty evaluations -- Conduct regular programmatic assessment including analysis of evaluation plan-related data.
