Harbor's Edge is a premier resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located on the harbor in Norfolk, Virginia. Harbor's Edge completed a $225 million expansion underway, the River Tower, that includes an additional 24-story tower, doubling the square footage and adding 147 residential living units and 20 assisted living units. Harbor's Edge has 300 residential units in addition to a 33 bed (Medicare/Private Pay) Skilled Nursing unit and 80 Assisted Living/Memory Care units. The Community employs approximately 300 employees.The RN Unit Manager is responsible for the oversight of the assigned staff/shift within Health Care (Skilled Nursing). The Unit Manager assists in the administrative functions of the operations, including admissions, discharges, and staffing. He/she must have a Bachelor's degree and a current unencumbered license as a registered nurse from the state board of nursing of the Commonwealth of VA with at least 3 years of progressively responsible work experience in the long-term care industry or a related field, including experience in nursing supervision.ResponsibilitiesCreates and assigns work schedules and duties; ensures appropriate staffing levels, including coverage for call-outs; orients and trains new employees; and monitors staff performanceMakes rounds, assists in patient care as needed, and advises Director of Nursing of status of seriously or critically ill patients and unusual situationsAudits skilled charting, labs, skin assessments, Narcotic sheets, and skilled nurses' notes and reviews medical documentation submitted by staff (i.e., MARS/TARS/ADL flow sheets) for consistency with sound medical practices, physicians' orders, and care plansAssesses residents for admission to skilled nursing unit by reviewing medical documentation and communicating daily with Marketing Department, discharge planners, physicians, and social workerHelps admit and discharge residents according to facility procedureOversees transportation, consultation appointments, and family notification and follows up on consults/reportsCompletes appropriate forms and reports, such as census, e-calls, updates to care plans, etc.Performs review of attending physicians' recertificationResponds to emergencies/codes and participates in the on-call rotationQualificationsMust be at least 18 years oldBachelor's degree highly preferredMust have an unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of VA At least 3 years of progressively responsible work experience in the long-term care industry or a related field, including experience in nursing supervisionExcellent verbal and written skillsStrong computer and internet skillsMust be able to exert 50-100 lbs. of force to assist elderly in and out of wheelchairsAble to seek out new methods and principles and willing to incorporate them into existing practicesExceptional organizational skillsAble to meet objectives with a minimum of supervisionPI207901471
