Description:Harbor's Edge is a premier resort-style and
not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located
on the harbor in Norfolk, Virginia. Harbor's Edge completed a $225
million expansion earlier this year (https://vimeo.com/283999844)
called the River Tower that includes an additional 24-story tower,
doubling the square footage, adding 147 residential living units
and 20 assisted living units. Harbor's Edge has 300 residential
units in two Towers in addition to a small Skilled Nursing unit and
80 Assisted Living/Memory Care units. The Community employs
approximately 300 employees, and current annual revenues are
approximately $30 Million. The Assistant Executive Director's (AED)
primary focus will be on expanding the impact of the Harbor's Edge
brand, ensuring our position as the luxury CCRC of choice on the
east coast and maintaining a deep sense of pride in the superior
levels of resident satisfaction our outstanding team is known for.
Her/His focus will also be on operational excellence while
achieving compliance, continuous improvement, occupancy, budgetary
and stretch goals. ensuring that Harbor's Edge is an employer of
choice in the greater Tidewater area. The ideal candidate will have
at least 10 years of progressively responsible leadership
experience, preferably within a CCRC or other life plan care
environment. A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required, with an
advanced degree preferred. Previous experience as an Executive
Director, Assistant Executive Director, CFO, COO, or other
senior-level executive, preferably with deep finance and/or
marketing acumen is also preferred. This single-site Community

focus on excellence and caring. ResponsibilitiesProvides strategic
input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the
organization and advises on long range planning, introduction of
new programs, and regulatory interactionOversees management of the
Health Services Departments to include Skilled Nursing, Assisted
Living/Memory Support, and the Clinic; monitors occupancy, revenue,
and expenses in all areas; oversees Marketing efforts; and
maintains the highest levels of resident care and
satisfactionOversees management of the Operating Support
Departments to include Plant Maintenance/Security,
Housekeeping/Laundry, and Resident Services and Activities;
maintains focus on health and safety of residents as the
Community's first priority; takes steps to ensure protection of
facility assets/property; monitors revenue and expenses in all
areas; and maintains the highest levels of resident
satisfactionOversees management of the Dining Services and Catering
Department to include multiple dining venues and dietary support to
the healthcare operations; maintains focus on health and safety of
residents as the Community's first priority; ensures compliance
with regulatory and resident care guidelines; monitor revenue and
expenses in all areas; and maintains the highest levels of resident
satisfactionServes as primary contact for and proactively maintains
relationship with state and local regulatory agencies responsible
for CCRC communitiesOversees an ongoing Quality Assurance and
Compliance program and provides appropriate plans of action to
correct any identified deficienciesProvides timely and accurate
analyses and reports to Chief Executive Officer, other members of
management, and BoardParticipates in development of capital budget,
capital reserve study, and preventative maintenance plan and
monitors departmental budgets and staffing
plansRequirements:QualificationsBachelor's degree required; Masters
of Health Administration or Business Administration
preferredLicensed Long-Term Care Administrator or a medical
background (e.g., Registered Nurse) preferred; in the absence of an
Administrator's license, the candidate must have in-depth
knowledge/experience similar to that of an Assistant Executive
Director in a CCRCAt least 15 years of progressively responsible
management experience in the long-term care / senior living
industryHighly developed written and verbal communication,
analytical, supervisory/management, and presentation skillsAble to
operate effectively under pressure of deadlines and other
stressorsAble to supervise a diverse skill set and oversee both
highly regulated and resident services (hospitality) areasAble to
interact with Residents and Families in life and death situations
with compassionKnowledge of laws, regulations, guidelines, and
medical/nursing practices and procedures pertaining to long-term
careAn understanding of Medicare and resident billing/insurance
requirementsAbility to plan, organize, develop, implement,
