Main Purpose of the Role:Apply principles of accounting to research, review, and analyze financial information and to prepare end of month reports to senior management. The Vice-President of Accounting position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.Major Areas of Responsibility:Accounting Operations.Main Tasks:Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.Manage outsourced functions.Oversee the operations of the accounting department.Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.Maintain the chart of accounts.Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.Issue timely and complete financial statements.Supervise the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.Coordinate the completion of the year-end financial audit.Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report.Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company.Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.Provide for a system of management cost reports.Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.Monitor and control capital expenditures, including comparison to budget.Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.Provide schedules required by auditors to complete the company's income tax returns. Review, sign and file the completed tax returns.Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.Ensure compliance with the company's financial guidelines and policies. Develop and maintain internal control procedures.Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.Arranges for audits of company's accounts for quarterly and annual financial statements.Coordinates audits for other agencies (worker's compensation, sales use, etc.).Prepares reports required by regulatory agency.Reconcile and Analyze General Ledger Accounts.Prepare Journal Entries - Accruals, Depreciations, Corrections.Prepare Audit Work Papers - (This is composed of monthly analysis)Month End Reporting - Prepare & Assimilate all information (KPI's, Treasury, & A/R) for HQ.Assist in preparing corporate tax filingAssist in preparation of sales/use tax, personal property tax and real property taxes including related analyses.Handle all customers and vendors requests for appropriate tax reporting information.Review brokerage payments and analyze as necessary.Preparation of managerial financial reports.

  • B.S. in Business Administration. Masters in Accounting (MBA) is preferable.
  • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) qualification is required.
  • 6 to 10 years progressive experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Transportation, Logistics, and/or supply chain industry experience is required; preferably specific to shipping or freight-forwarding
