Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health, founded in 1986, is an 82
bed facility within the city of Norfolk, Virginia. Kempsville

Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is seeking a dynamic and
Health Information Management Clerk.
Sorts patients clinical/medical information alphabetically,
chronologically, and by unit; and files information in clinical
records per company guidelines. Copies reports and prepares
information for mailing in accordance with release of information
company policies and procedures. Assembles and analyses discharged

* Performs HIM department functions.
* Perform audits and compile data for departmental reporting.

Needs basic understanding of and comfort level with medical
terminology, acute/residential treatment, clinical
science/pathology and psychiatric disorders. Must know how to
gather and analyze data. Must be articulate, assertive, and able to
communicate effectively with families, payers, therapists and
physicians both verbally and in writing. Must also demonstrate
initiative, tact and good judgment. Must have basic computer
High school graduate or equivalent required.
One year general office or clerical experience preferably in a
health care setting.
Must have normal auditory processing. The incumbent is seated and
talking on the phone or using a computer 50% of time.
Must have organizational skills, eye-hand coordination, strong
attention to detail, and meet the process document standards.
