The department seeks an individual who will complement the existing research expertise in the transportation program with emphasis on one or more of the areas of intelligent transportation systems (ITS); connected and automated vehicles; smart mobility/transportation; sustainable transportation; statistical/econometric modeling or optimization applications; multi-modal transportation; transportation safety; and travel behavior and demand modeling. Expertise in the area of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics in transportation applications is also desirable. The Transportation Research Institute (TRI) within the CEE Department conducts multidisciplinary research focusing on ITS, connected and automated vehicles, traffic flow theory and control, congestion pricing, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and freight transportation. Within the last five years, TRI faculty completed various projects funded by federal, state, and local agencies totaling more than $3.5M. The successful candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with TRI faculty and is expected to complement existing research areas. The CEE Department is one of six departments in the Frank Batten College of Engineering and Technology and offers an ABET-accredited BS Civil Engineering degree as well as ME, MS, Ph.D. and Doctor of Engineering degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering. The Department has 16 full time faculty and instructors, and approximately 280 undergraduate and 130 graduate students. Salary and faculty appointment is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
