Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:As an emerging expert, analyzes, models and optimizes logistics capabilities using advanced software. This covers location of sites, allocation of resources, inventory placement and size, selection of transportation mode, freight consolidation, closed loop tours, dedicated opportunities, continuous moves, etc. Analyzes contractual commitments, customer specifications, and related information to identify and document maintenance and support requirements. Collects, processes and maintains data for analysis. Implements, monitors and adjusts solutions. Provides guidance to less experienced employees. Establishes and refines procedures for analysis. RESPONSIBILTIES:Directs and coordinates program activities designed to provide subcontractors, management, and customers with logistics technology that ensures effective and economical support concerned for manufacturing or servicing of products, systems, or equipment.Analyzes contractual commitments, customer specifications, design changes, and other data to plan and develop logistic program activities from conceptual stage through life-cycle of product.Develops and implements program activities, coordinates efforts of subcontractors, production departments, and field service personnel, and resolves problems in area of logistics to ensure meeting of contractual commitments.Develops and initiates preparation of handbooks, bulletins, and information systems to provide and supply logistics support.Compiles data on standardization and interchangeability of parts to expedite logistics activities.Determines logistic support sequences and time phasing, problems arising from location of operational area, and other factors, for example environmental and human factors affecting personnel.Utilizes advanced computer techniques for analysis, simulation or information systems and documentation.Provides guidance to less advanced staff and may serve as a team lead on specific projects.May also perform special research or technical studies critical to logistic support functions.Acts as the team lead in the development of internal analysis tools.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:A Bachelor's of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline; or eight (8) years of demonstrated subject matter expertise in the discipline of logistics functions and applications, including the qualifications below; or US Naval operational experience at the E7 level or higher. In addition, ten (10) years professional or operational experience in developing logistics support requirements and applicable documentation for a major DOD weapon systems program that employs the use of GOTS and COTS products. This includes five (5) years of concurrent experience in logistics management concepts, policies, systems, and practices in order to provide extensive analysis of current and future logistics infrastructure. Ability to develop logistic support requirements, identify and establish linkage between functions and tasks common to multiple organizational missions. Professional or operational experience in developing logistics support requirements and applicable documentation. Six (6) years of concurrent experience, demonstrated for current Navy programs such as Tomahawk, in performing logistics management functions involving the development of training products, sparing allocation, and embedded help/training for a major weapon control system. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face.
