The Process Quality Engineer (PQE) provides direction and
assistance to the work group in order to meet assigned objectives
efficiently and effectively. In this role you will work within
defined parameters to observe, assess, make decisions, apply
concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues
through immediate action or short-term planning. The PQE will spend
time observing and understanding existing processes with the
Norfolk Service Center (NSC) to determine areas for efficiency
gain, process improvement, and/or development of key concepts.
The individual in this role will be expected to:
Support NSC production schedules, drive productivity, and quality
initiatives
Determine the proper manufacturing processes for assembly,
machining, inspection, and test of required components
Support all initiatives of assembly/production areas, such as
Visual Management, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
Encourage and maintain a safe work environment
Schedule, resolve issues, track availability, and advise on
proper/timely replenishment of materials
Design and implement processes and systems for control
Promote customer satisfaction and develop positive customer
relationships
Develop and deliver process improvement plan with regular report
outs on progress with various members of the direct/indirect
team
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in an
engineering discipline
Formal experience as an intern, preferably in a manufacturing or
services setting
Preferences
Mechanical or Industrial Engineering BS Degree
Proficient in MS Office Suite, specifically MS Excel
Prior supply chain process and product knowledge is preferred
Knowledge of safety agency regulations
Ability to effectively influence and motivate others
Ability to lead by example
Six Sigma training / knowledge
Familiarity with materials and equipment that is relevant to the
function
Strong propensity for excelling in a demanding environment
Ability to determine the impact of actions on business
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
