Duties Job Description: The Norfolk State University School of
Business invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant
Professor in Management Information Systems beginning Fall 2026. We
seek a dynamic scholar-teacher with expertise in information
systems, digital transformation, cybersecurity, enterprise systems,
database management, cloud computing, business analytics, or
related MIS domains. The successful candidate will teach courses in
Management Information Systems and related technology-driven
business areas; maintain an active research agenda consistent with
AACSB academic qualification standards; mentor students; contribute
to curriculum development and program assessment; and engage in
service to the School, University, and profession. This position
offers the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of the
MIS concentration and to support new initiatives in
technology-driven business education, including digital innovation,
cybersecurity, AI-enabled information systems, and enterprise

Responsibilities: The faculty member will be responsible for
Teaching undergraduate and emerging graduate-level courses in
Management Information Systems, including areas such as database
management, systems analysis and design, cybersecurity, enterprise
systems, business analytics, and digital strategy, maintaining an
active research agenda in MIS-related areas consistent with AACSB
standards, supporting curriculum innovation, including development
and assessment of MIS-focused courses and contributing to
technology-driven program growth, providing service at the
departmental, school, university, and community levels, and
supporting the School’s commitment to maintaining AACSB
International accreditation. Overview of the School of Business:
The School of Business has maintained Business accreditations from
AACSB International since 1990 and offers three degrees: Bachelor
of Science in Accountancy; Bachelor of Science in Business with
concentrations in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics,
Entrepreneurship, Finance, Financial Services, Management,
Management Information Systems, and Marketing; and Bachelor of
Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management. Minimum
Qualifications 1. A Ph.D. in Management Information Systems,
Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Information
Technology, Business Analytics, or a closely related discipline is
required (ABD considered with completion by start date). 2.
Evidence of, or strong potential for, effective teaching and
scholarly productivity is expected. 3. Applied industry experience
in enterprise systems, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, or
digital transformation is highly desirable. Additional

transformation initiatives. 2. Candidates should demonstrate a
commitment to supporting a diverse student body and contributing to

technologies such as SQL, Python, cloud computing platforms
(AWS/Azure), ERP systems (SAP/Oracle), cybersecurity tools, or data
visualization platforms. 4. Demonstrated ability to connect MIS
teaching to real-world business problems through experiential
projects, simulations, internships, or corporate partnerships. 5.
Experience contributing to program development, particularly in
MIS, cybersecurity, digital business, or technology management. 6.
