Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties This nursing
faculty position has a wide range of professional responsibilities,
including, but not limited to: 1. Develop, implement, and evaluate
the philosophy and objectives of the nursing education program. 2.
Design, implement, teach, evaluate, and revise the curriculum.
Faculty shall provide evidence of education and experience
necessary to indicate that the faculty member is competent to teach
a given course. 3. Develop and evaluate student admission,
progression, retention, and graduation policies within the
framework of the controlling institution. 4. Participate in
academic advisement and counseling of students in accordance with
requirements of the Financial Educational Rights and Privacy Act
(20 USC § 1232g). 5. Provide opportunities for and evidence of
student and graduate evaluation of curriculum and teaching and
program effectiveness. 6. Document actions taken in faculty and
committee meetings using a systematic plan of evaluation for total
program review. 7. Create and maintain effective collegial
relationships with students, faculty, the University, and clinical
agency staff and administration. 8. Model professional
evidence-based nursing that is sensitive to diverse and
multicultural considerations. 9. Establish and maintain
professional and ethical boundaries with students, co-workers, and
others in all learning environments. 10. Participate in University
service and events. 11. Abide by University guidelines as
prescribed in the Faculty Handbook for achieving promotion and/or
tenure. 12. Actively participate in annual scholarly activities,
including but not limited to research projects, grant proposal
development and submission, manuscript writing, and professional
presentations; and, 13. Perform other responsibilities that may be
assigned by the Department Chair. Overview of the Department: The
Department of Nursing and Allied Health offers Bachelor of Science
degrees in Nursing and Health Services Management, Master of
Healthcare Administration, Master of Health Informatics, Master of
Public Health, and a Certificate of Completion in Health Services
Management. The Mission of the Department of Nursing and Allied
Health is to develop analytical, skilled, and competent
professionals who will become productive citizens today, and to
offer academic programs that facilitate learning consistent with
changing employment opportunities and life experiences in a global
society. This mission embraces tenets of the Norfolk State
University mission statement. Through exemplary teaching,
scholarship, and outreach, the Department aims to prepare selected
individuals for diverse nursing or health science roles in multiple
settings. Minimum Qualifications 1. An earned Master of Science in
Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university. 2. An
earned terminal degree in nursing or related field (e.g. DNP, PhD,
DrPH) 3. Evidence of experience in nursing practice (minimum of
five years). 4. A record of scholarly achievement in teaching,
research, service, and professional development. 5. A current,
unencumbered license as a registered nurse or multistate licensure
privilege to practice nursing in Virginia, or ability to obtain one
prior to start date. Additional Considerations 1. Substantive
specialization or certification in a specialty field or area of
research focus. 2. History of funding and/or publications in
research. 3. Experience with virtual simulation learning platforms.
4. Knowledge of higher education and nursing accreditation
