Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language
(ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1
year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings.
Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be
considered. Provide sign language interpretation services in an
elementary school setting within the Virginia Beach area. This
full-time contract position runs from January 5, 2026, through June
16, 2026, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to
2:00 p.m. The role involves supporting elementary-age students and
requires assignment to one or more schools, with caseload details
to be determined. Key Responsibilities: Deliver effective sign
language interpretation to support students communication needs
Collaborate with educators and staff to facilitate inclusion in the
classroom Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional
standards in all interactions Monitor and document student progress
as required Participate in meetings and trainings relevant to the
role Qualifications and Experience: Valid Virginia Quality
Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification Preferred
Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5
or higher; candidates with a score above 3.0 or a QAS Score of 3 or
better will be considered Experience working with elementary
school-aged children preferred Strong communication and
interpersonal skills Location: Schools within the Chesapeake Public
Schools district, Virginia Beach area Schedule and Hours: Full-time
(30 hours per week) Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
This contract position is currently anticipated to renew for the
following school year. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply
