Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1 years
Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required.
Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be
considered. A dedicated professional is needed to provide
specialized educational services for students who are Deaf or Hard
of Hearing within an elementary school setting in the Virginia
Beach area. This full-time, contract position spans the current
school year, from January 5, 2026, through June 16, 2026,
supporting a small caseload of eight students, kindergarten through
fifth grade, all located at the district center. Key
Responsibilities: Deliver individualized instruction and support
tailored to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Collaborate
with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to develop and
implement effective educational plans. Monitor student progress and
adjust teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs. Maintain
accurate records and documentation in compliance with district
policies and state regulations. Foster a positive and inclusive
learning environment that encourages student growth and
communication skills. Qualifications: Active Virginia Department of
Education teaching certification in Deaf / Hard of Hearing
education; provisional certification accepted. Experience working
with students in kindergarten through fifth grade preferred. Strong
understanding of instructional methods and accommodations for Deaf
/ Hard of Hearing students. Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills for collaboration with students, families, and
professionals. Commitment to supporting student success in an
inclusive educational setting. Position Details: Location: Virginia
Beach Area Schedule: Full-time, 35 hours per week Contract Type:
Current School Year (CSY) assignment Caseload: 8 students (K-5th
grade) at district center Licensure: VA DOE certification required
