Job Description:

Serves as a representative for a medical group call center located on the ODU campus. Responsible for answering calls and scheduling appointments in a high volume call center environment. Ability to remain calm and perform duties efficiently under stress. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Manual dexterity. Must demonstrate ability to effectively communicate and interact with all age groups. MUST have Excellent Customer Service Skills. Patient confidentiality must be maintained at all times.+ Answers all incoming telephone calls from patients, hospitals, doctor offices and other medical facilities in a polite and courteous manner+ Directs calls to appropriate party.+ Takes messages for physicians+ Assist patients with information on medication refills, lab orders and referrals+ Schedule appointments for patients with their PCP.+ Pre registering patients to establish new care including confirm patient's insurance. For established patients update all changed information in the computer+ Calling patients and scheduling appointments from reminder and bump lists.+ Review and complete all EHR tasks that are assigned to you and your appropriate team.+ Supplement office staff by assisting with photocopying, various office tasks, re- supplying work stations.+ Work with other staff when needed to find charts, process requests for medical records, scanning, scheduling patients for appointments, special procedures and the required referrals. + Participates in department staff meetings and other quality improvement activities required and volunteered for. + Maintains a polite and professional demeanor at all times.+ To ensure PCP continuity, please make sure patients are seeing their designated provider.+ Please be sure to update patient PCP in the event they change PCP's or provider is no longer here at clinic.+ Referral Tracking- Track patients Referrals by contacting the referring physician's office and completing the order in Allscripts.+ Inform patients of "Follow My Health" (Patient Portal) + Send daily FMH invites to all NEW/ESTABLISHED Patients+ Review on call messages ensuring patient call back+ Performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:High school diploma. One (1) year office/clerical experience required. Experience performing related functions in a medical practice is preferred. Previous front desk customer service experience will be considered. Professional, customer service-oriented individual is required. Experience in a "fast paced" ambulatory setting is desirable. Training in electronic health records is desirable. Willingness to learn new skills and apply as deemed appropriate by the assigned supervisors.
