The University Budget Office at Old Dominion University is
seeking candidates for a Financial Services Specialist II position.
This position will assist with all aspects of budget development,
management, analysis and reporting for Educational & General
Funding; assist with the management of the Equipment Trust Fund
process and compliance requirements.; and assist with review,
approval, and monitoring of Student Financial Assistance Awards.
Other duties include producing standard monthly and ad-hoc
budget/financial reports and analysis.Required Qualifications:--
Considerable experience in using automated/electronic financial
systems. Considerable experience in budget, accounting and finance.
--Considerable knowledge of budget development, management, and
reporting in higher education or governmental entity. Considerable
knowledge of state budget and finance policies, procedures and
systems. Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and prepare
multi-year revenue and expenditure forecast and resource allocation
plans. Demonstrated ability to apply and adapt accounting
principles and methods to a variety of agency fiscal needs.
Demonstrated ability to assemble and analyze large data sets in
order to prepare clear and concise financial reports and
recommendations for various levels of management. Demonstrated
ability to work through and understand complex financial models for
accuracy and soundness. Considerable skills in using automated and
integrated financial systems. Considerable skill in word
processing, database and spreadsheet programs. Excellent oral and
written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate
with various members of the campus community and other state
agencies.Preferred Qualifications:-- Applicable experience in
higher education or large government agency. Prior working
experience with Banner for Higher Education, Cognos Reporting,
Cardinal, VA Performance Budgeting System or other ERP and
Financial Reporting Systems. Bachelor's Degree with a major in
Accounting, Finance or Business/Public Administration; or
equivalent training and experience.Review Date:This position opens
